140% More Website Visits after Launching an Automated Newsstream

The continuous production of new content is important, no question. If you want to attract more visitors to your website, you need to continually create new content and share it across multiple channels to gain visibility. However, this is often not possible in addition to day-to-day business. We at AX Semantics have the same problem. We publish articles as often as we can, but we don't make it as continuous as we want. And this is how the idea for the automated Newsstream came up, which we launched on 1 March for our channels.

First Insights: What Successes Does the Newsstream Generate?

Since then we have been curating articles from selected sources on magazine.ax-semantics.com and text-gold.de--fully automatically. Of course, we also define the topics ourselves in order to share only relevant content. Sound confusing? No problem, we'll explain step by step what happens in the background later. First of all, we will focus on the numbers, because: already in the first three months our website visits have more than doubled in comparison to the three months before (+ 140 %).

The Content Concept

Our ratio of self-written articles to Newsstream posts is approximately 1 to 4. We have not deliberately created this ratio; it is the result of the frequency of our articles and the number of selected topics and sources for the Newsstream, and it may change in the future. What we are seeing: the long, self-created articles are viewed more often than the Newsstream posts. However, since there are significantly more Newsstream posts than those we create, the click-through ratio is almost balanced.

4 Things You Need for the Automated Newsstream

1. News sources you want to share content from and keywords you want to share articles about.
2. A Feedly account for summarizing and compiling news feeds from the chosen sources.
3. An AX NLG CLOUD account to generate teaser texts for your channels.
4. A Zapier account to automate workflows between Feedly, the AX NLG Cloud, and your channels.

How to Set Up a Newsstream

Social Media only

1. Choose your SOURCES

• Find your sources of interest, such as blogs or news pages from which you want to automatically share content via social media. 
• We will aggregate them with you in Feedly, a news aggregator application that compiles news feeds from online sources.
• From there, the news data will be imported automatically into the AX NLG platform via Zapier.

2. Adapt the SOCIAL MEDIA TEASERS

• The AX Newsstream Project contains teaser text sentences with which you can automatically announce news articles via social media. 
• You can customize them as you wish. You also specify the topics on which you want to share posts from the sources. 
• As soon as a news article is published, the AX NLG Cloud generates a teaser text for it.

3. Connect your SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS

• The texts, including links to the original source, are sent back to Zapier and from there shared on your connected social media channels. 
• Every time interesting news is published, a post is automatically sent to your channel.
